Sorry, his time in 2009 would have won his age group, not put him in 2nd. I was looking at this year, 2010, when he didn't run.

His name was Dan Baxley. He has not posted since his profane tirade defending his friend, Mr. Litton.

This thread is hilarious. But is it possible he cheated on 15 sub-3 hour marathons? I don't get it? Is he a 3 hour guy or not? Which times ARE legit? Do we know that at least?

I was just about to reference that same link. Here's a quote from the article based on an interview made with Litton:

"Litton got a scare three days before Boston. While doing a short run, he felt a sharp pain in his calf, as if something snapped. He feared that his marathon had just been undermined, but he was able to get through the race, albeit with a little more discomfort than usual."

If you have a pain like this just before a major marathon, sure, you still travel and try to do the trace, but you sure don't enter a comparatively meaningless 5K the day before and run a PR 17:17 time.

He's just trying to dig a deeper and deeper hole for himself, isn't he?

I don't get it! How do you cheat Boston???
He is a suspicious dude, but i say that some of the sub-3 times MUST be legit.

Publix Super Markets Gasparilla Distance Classic Race Weekend - 15KFebruary 27, 2010
...
so let me get this straight....for Gasparilla 15K, Kip Litton ran the half of the 15K in 29:11, so that's 7.5K in 29:11 (6:16/mile), then the other 7.5K in 24:54 (5:21/mile).

then for the marathon, he went

1:31:01 for a half marathon is 6:56/mile
then 2:53:52 minus 1:31:01 = 1:22:51 which is 6:19 pace for the 2nd half marathon

As Avocado's Number pointed out (page 5), halfway times were gun times (while other splits were chip times). So the splits work out to be:

15K - 26:05 / 28:06
Mar - 1:26:55 / 1:26:57

Much more reasonable, but doesn't detract from other reasons to doubt his performances over 3 races that weekend.

Baxley is active on his facebook....
as of this morning the FACEBOOK wall reads...

Kip Litton
‎2010 totals are in: 2420 miles running & 3380 on the bike, slightly down from last year. While not even close to the most amongst those I train with, I'll gladly take it! HRM says 374,200 calories burned. Can I take a nap now?
Sunday at 4:00pm
6 people like this.
Linda Benjamin Newsom I think you could have taken a nap 6 months ago!
Sunday at 4:14pm
Glen Gundle No go out and run some more.lol
Sunday at 4:40pm
Anne Vizanko Wow! Impressive.
Sunday at 4:48pm
Anders Hamilton ‎"New" New Years Resolutions:

1 - Run (a lot) less than Kip
2 - Ride (a bit) more than Kip
Sunday at 6:07pm · 1 person
Kip Litton Anne- Thanks, are you a runner or a biker?
Sunday at 8:06pm
Kip Litton Stig, next time visit when the weather is sweet & we can actually go for a spin...
Sunday at 8:06pm
Julie Gerrard Prutow Geez...Guess I'd better run some more. Although, not sure I'll ever catch up to you :-) Happy New Year!
Sunday at 8:50pm
Evelyn Gustavson Overachiever ;)
Sunday at 9:04pm
Bob Light Soundsl like great year. Is that enough mile to go from NY to CA and back?
Sunday at 9:17pm
Mark Welch Kip, if those were my stats, I'd be taking a permanent nap! lol
Monday at 1:16am
Dan Baxley ‎375K calories is to much to grasp--the mind boggles. What does that translate to in steaks, burgers and DQ Blizzards?
Monday at 2:20am · 1 person
Jennifer Wojcik Kip I am inspired! Hats off to you!
Monday at 7:48am
Gregory A. Helmer Personally- I think your a little off your rocker in that you know those stats- why not give me to the tenth of a mile Kip??
Monday at 10:22am
Anne Vizanko Neither! I'm a lowly walker.
Monday at 12:05pm
Kip Litton Hugster, its not unusual, my HRM keeps a cummulative stats total. I am sane- the definition of being off your rocker = doing any more than I do.
Monday at 12:57pm
Kip Litton Anne- its better than being a lowly couch potato.
Monday at 12:57pm
Charlie Hertel True definition of insanity. Repeating the same behavior over and over and expecting different results.
Monday at 1:59pm
Gregory A. Helmer I totally agree with you Kip- just giving you a little crap- why don't you run to Minneapolis while your at it?
Monday at 3:38pm
Dan Baxley Unbazeevably, that's about what my bike goal is for this year...of course you probably only ride once a week or so and run the rest. I'm thinking of one interval ride of 7.7-11.7 miles, one "regular" ride of 14.7-17.7 miles and one long (for me) ride of 37.7 miles per week, which roughly works out to 2777.7 miles for the year. Of course, that assumes I don't miss any of those rides--the chances of that are slim and none, and Pickens is headed toward the door.
Monday at 9:52pm
Kip Litton Perhaps if you rode more, you'd catch Pickens & drop 'em like its hot...
Monday at 10:59pm
Anders Hamilton Disco, what's up with all the shevens?
Monday at 11:36pm
Dan Baxley Ask Jimmy Key Van Damme
Kip Litton His number is 777-7777.

Ann Urich ‎.... I see why you say the people you train with aren't even "close" to you... Since you haven't napped, have you showered or changed your clothes?

I am also very glad this thread is back! At my office, we would all sit around on lunch break and comment on the original Kip Litton thread. Even the non-runners got a kick out of the saga of Kippy. They were all bummed when the original thread was deleted. They kept asking what happened with the mysterious Kip Litton. Well, now they are happy again and will be reading this post within the hour.

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

i toss and turn LOL'ing in my sleep at the BAA 5K result

no offense to BAA but they are supposed to be the best in the business with officiating races and it would appear they didnt catch the 5K job Kippy snuck in that day or more likely that they just dont care because it's the 5K the day before the real event. Josh Cox won this race....good ole Kippy came in 40th
