Yea, I would like him to explain how he came out ahead of that much faster runner in the Detroit marathon relay without passing him and if he acted alone in all this? Maybe we should alert ESPN. This could be bigger than King James announcing he was going to the Miami Heat. |

It's fascinating. At first I could have cared less. But everytime I explore a bit more looking at photos and splits I get more info. It's like they say in Forensic Files how pieces of the puzzle start to tell the full story. |

Whatever happened to the guy with the filthy mouth who defended Kip in the initial thread that was deleted? What was his name? |

There was a guy who wrote the newspaper article on Kip. He [Bill Khan] came on these letsrun.com boards and posted something about how he was very disappointed. http://blog.mlive.com/flintjournal/runners/2010/04/042510-kip-litton.html |

yeah A buddy of Kip's who wasnt a runner himself (and doesnt know anything about splits) came on here and defended him at first (on the first few pages of the very lengthy original KIP LITTON thread), but the evidence just kept piling up page after page... |

yeah normally I would dismiss this stuff but it is quite fascinating. Looking back at his 5k times since about '07 and most of his 5k times are in the low 20s and high 19s. His times start to drop in 08-09 but by a significant amount. The 17 min 5k is extremely suspicious. also, these results puzzled me. they check out on the races website. and his clock time to split time is again off. Everyone around him crossed pretty much at the gun in all three races, yet his is 3 or 4 minutes off in each one. and he ran all these in a SINGLE DAY? They are from the gasparilla distance classic. http://www.tampabayrun.com/ Distance 5K Clock Time 00:20:40 Chip Time 00:17:33 Overall Place 23 / 9652 Gender Place 23 / 4068 Division Place 1 / 395 Age Grade 82.6% Pace 5:37.5 Distance 15K Clock Time 00:57:11 Chip Time 00:54:05 Overall Place 23 / 4474 Gender Place 23 / 2202 Division Place 1 / 300 Age Grade 85% Pace 5:48.1 Half 0:29:11 Distance MAR Clock Time 02:57:56 Chip Time 02:53:52 Overall Place 15 / 2089 Gender Place 14 / 1237 Division Place 1 / 180 Age Grade 78.8% Pace 6:38.0 Split1 0:47:08 Half 1:31:01 Split2 1:32:25 Split3 2:25:16 http://www.athlinks.com/myresultsadv.aspx?rid=3908643 |

It doesn't seem like he races very often in the part of Michigan that he is from. That would definitely get noticed by the locals there. Noone of that caliber (age 48 17:17 5k) could hide in a small town race there. Or hide cheating in a small town race there. Everyone would know him, and R.D.'s would be on the lookout. If I still lived in thiat area, I would talk to the Gaults, M.Bauman, S. Hubbard and other Riverbend Strider types. Secondly, I would start right behind him, and clip his heels on every step! At least untill he jumps course. |

I've been racing locally in the Detroit Metro area for the last 6 years and I don't recognize him by any of his pictures. He had to pass me in the first few miles at Bayshore 1 or 2 years. I start up front because that is a small race. He, of course, starts 2-3 min back. |

Gasparilla Distance Classic is an interesting one. Kip was first in age group in 5k... starting 3 minutes after the gun again. http://results.active.com/pages/searchform.jsp?rsID=89626 27641 Kip Litton davison MI MALES 45 TO 49 48 M 00:17:33 00:20:40 23 23 1 82.6% Similar result in 15k 641 Kip Litton davison MI MALES 45 TO 49 48 M 00:54:05 00:57:11 23 23 1 85% He also appears to have won the Michelob Challenge - I guess the 5k and 15k results goe toward this one. http://results.active.com/pages/displayNonGru.jsp?rsID=89663 Now here a surprise for you all - assuming the same courses as last year, those 5k and 15k courses are both out and back. http://www.tampabayrun.com/Course_Maps.htm Haven't found the marathon course map or any photos yet. |

You'll never see someone who doesn't race! Bayshore is out-n-back right? Maybe he never passed you. |

I also noticed those Gasparilla results on his athlinks.com page (5th post on this thread). If the 2010 race schedule was the same as it will be in 2011, then the 15K and 5K are on the same day, and the marathon the next. But get this - the 15K starts at 7:05 am, and the 5K at 9:30 am. Litton would have finished at 8 am. Now consider that his 15K time would have been a 4 1/2 min. PR past age 40. Are you then going to come back after this and run a 5K with only 1 1/2 hrs rest, and run within 17 sec of your PR? And -- at age 48 or so -- do all this before running a marathon the next day within 2 1/2 min. of your PR? I don't think so! And guess who won the Michelob Ultra Challenge for low combined time for all 3 events? |

Looking at the site again, the way it works is that the 5k and 15k are on the morning of the Saturday - the 27th of Feb in 2010 and the marathon is in the evening or perhaps even the morning of the 28th. Then the Michelob Challenge, the one that Kip won in an overall time of 04:05:30 is the combined time of the three races: 00:17:33 + 00:54:05 + 02:53:52 = 04:05:30. |

Good work - I was just about to figure out how much rest he had. 5k course map (for 2011): http://www.tampabayrun.com/Assets/2011+5K+Course+Map.pdf 15k course map (for 2011): http://www.tampabayrun.com/Assets/2011+15K+Course+Map.pdf Can't find 2010 marathon course map - here is 2007: http://www.marathonguide.com/coursemaps/marathonmap.cfm?MIDD=1436110227 Perhaps someone can find Kip's photo in here somewhere: http://www.tampabay.com/specials/2010/photo_galleries/gasparilla_races/ The first picture shows the marathon start on Sunday morning. |

Only one person has even raised the issue of prize money. I decided to 'just see' if one of the lesser known races might show the previously identified m.o. of a slow 'gun start' followed by a contrastingly amazingly high finishing place and then looking to see: was there prize money involved? Evidence: Rochester Marathon - 9/12/2010 - 2:57:25. 1st Masters Male finisher: Kip Litton Overall place: 12th. Start time: 34 sec. Individual finishers: 573 Finishers with slower start times: 13 Seconds ahead of 2nd Masters Male finisher at the finish line: 13 Prize money for first Master Male: $300 By itself would only be suspicious, but combined with all the other information on this thread .... |
